Hinglish
In urban India, it's common to hear a blend of Hindi and English, often referred to as "Hinglish." This unofficial yet widely popular language mix reflects the dynamic and adaptable nature of urban communication.
The aim of the project is to explore and understand how the Devanagari script, used for writing Hindi, is pronounced and perceived by non-native speakers (like my British husband).
I achieved this by pairing Hindi letters with English words, supported by graphic visuals to help convey the correct sounds when spoken.
Hand drawn characters fill each letter to create a set of playful artworks that take inspiration from children’s alphabet charts.
